The Biggest Game Changer Since the Slam Dunk – Cyber Security Reimagined

Performance, Security, and Flexibility are the primary attributes of MissionPoint™, the new Intelligent Gateway that we’ve developed here at MissionMobility.  Not a network engineer?  Don’t worry.  I’ll explain everything you need to know about how MissionPoint™ works by reviewing the major weaknesses of standard gateways so you fully understand the benefits of this new Intelligent Gateway. I think you’ll quickly see what a game changer MissionPoint™ is in the realm of Cyber Security.

Performance is a product of reliability, speed, and awareness. Understanding the built in awareness of the Missionpoint™ Intelligent Gateway system is the cornerstone to understanding this series, this product, and the next generation of mobile cyber security.

Our new tunnel architecture combines ingress and egress tunnels into a single entity allowing the MissionPoint™ Gateway greater control and awareness. All data arriving to a mobile device or gateway must travel through the same specific router or firewall after traversing the Internet. Data suspiciously arriving to Missionpoint™ from any other location is an indication of potential hacking.  MissionPoint™ will close the potentially breeched tunnel and form a new tunnel immediately. This method of tunneling is also a way to decrease system overhead, and boost speed when compared to the standard two unidirectional tunnels.

The Home Agent (HA) router is a critical component that triggers MissionPoint’s™ auto-defense mechanisms. MissionPoint™ is a hyper-aware system that can identify when just three control data packets have gone missing in a parameter of only a few seconds. This helps to eliminate the common and menacing problem of black hole traffic (more on that later) and “route flapping” which results in a high frequency, yet intermittent loss of packets. When the data loss limit is reached in the programmed timeframe a new tunnel connection is established automatically as MissionPoint™ realizes the need for a new connection path.  The HA is “stateful” meaning it monitors each data packet header and hash to ensure the data is from the approved connection. The HA also ensures authentication and integrity of the data.  If there is any alteration in the data packet the gateway will know and respond by automatically establishing a new tunnel, ensuring security of the rest of the data packets.

Another feature that supports awareness is tight routing protocol integration, which we will discuss further in the near future.

So what? The elimination of time consuming manual intervention necessary when connecting to a legacy gateway system will positively impact MissionPoint™ users in a number of ways, including:

  • It takes less time operating with a failed connection.
  • If a hacker is intercepting your data, time can mean everything.
  • If you have to relay an urgent message.

Most skeptics probably expect a system overburdened with overhead, but in my next post I will explain how we manage to boost our gateway speed despite data-monitoring.

I’m sure you’re now curious as to exactly how Missionpoint™ knows when packets go missing. Some of that will be explained in later posts, and some of it is the reason this product is revolutionary – the magic sauce!
